Personal Support Worker
(Note this is not a Care Work Vacancy) ________________________________________
PAY AND HOURS OF WORK – Working within a team environment the successful candidate will be employed on the following principles of engagement –
The rate of pay will be £9.50 per hour. Hours of work – Weekdays 9.30 to 14.30 (Flexible). The number of hours and shift patterns may vary. The successful candidate will be working all year around, including during the school holidays. Working Saturday mornings may be required on a rotational basis. The successful candidate must be willing to cover other team members’ holiday and sickness periods where possible. A mileage allowance of 45p a mile is agreed.

JOB LOCATION Employees will be working within the employer’s own home, office, and within the community.

RESPONSIBLE TO DAVID. David is a Company Director. An intelligent young man who enjoys good conversation, walking his dog, gardening, going to Leicester Cathedral and is actively involved within his local community.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide 1:1 support to a young and active man with a brain injury disability which affects his mood, memory and can cause confusion and distress. Note this is not a Care Work Vacancy.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties and tasks may vary)
Prompt David to ensure he is appropriately dressed for the climate. Support David with meals and making drinks (Burns & Falls Risk). Support David with shopping tasks. Prompt and Support David with task planning, task sequencing and task completion. Prompt and support David with accounts, billing, correspondence and office/computer related tasks
Support David with social activities & accompany David on trips out.

Assist David in keeping organised. (Assist David with Diary Management)

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Confidentiality. As a condition of employment the successful applicant will be expected to adhere to a strict confidentiality agreement.
To undertake duties in accordance with health and safety legislation and Employer’s own risk assessments. To undertake training as necessary. To understand how to work with David to meet his self-defined needs and feel confident to ask, listen and act upon requests and directions from David. To respect the possessions and equipment in David’s home and to obtain consent before using or handling possessions and equipment.
Personal Support Worker Qualities

Must have good organisational skills
Must be perceptive and aware.
Must be fit and active.
For the purpose of insurance the applicant must be over the age of twenty-five and possess a UK full clean driving licence.
Must have a good sense of humour.
Must have a caring and responsible attitude.
Must have a flexible approach to working.
Must have a patient and understanding nature.
Must be a good time keeper, be reliable and have good communication skills.
Knowledge of the effects of a brain injury a distinct advantage, willingness to learn essential.

As a condition of employment you will be expected to sign a strict Confidentiality Agreement and you may be required to obtain a Disclosure and Barring check. If you are invited for interview you will be required to bring documentation proving entitlement to work in the UK. i.e. passport, birth certificate and national insurance number.
