Meet the Residents & Community Workers of Radford Drive

Radford United - One Year On... February 2015

Welcome .....Radford United Community Action Group initially formed in response to planning applications as submitted by Abraham Properties in February 2014 ( the proposal to build on the former

Blaby District Council carparks). The opposition to the proposed developments was widespread and consequently Radford United (Community Action Group) was formed. The initial campaign victorious and now all but a distant memory, however, the demand for a Campaign & Social Group remained and the group continued to meet. The Group have since expanded & diversified. Our community website now boasts in excess of twenty-thousand unique visitors, in addition to our rapidly expanding monthly newsletter; bringing you  the latest community news alongside our regular features;  Pete Compost’s Gardening Tips & Suzy Squirrel’s recipes. In addition we have established a number of special interest groups including; Crime Prevention & Fire Safety, Ten-Pin Bowling & Darts Teams, You Tube Channel & Facebook Pages.  In July 2014 we were proud to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award nomination from Braunstone Town Council & along the way we have gained the support of Age UK, Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Fire & Rescue, & more recently sponsorship from

Shackerstone Festival Company Limited. These just a few of our achievements in the first twelve months & on the 3rd February 2015 we held the Inaugural Annual General Meeting. The meeting a complete success & subsequently we are pleased to bring forward our newsletter circulation expansion plans. Please feel free to come along to our meetings; everyone is welcome & we meet at the rear unit of the Braunstone West Social Centre (St. Mary’s Hall) on the second Wednesday of every month.
